| Additional Information : | On August 31, Michael Gadke and Gwendolyn Owen boarded a plane in Wawa to travel to Sault Ste. Marie. The plane, a Cessna C-172, was being piloted by Morris Werenko. As the plane approached its destination, the pilot reported not being able to land due to fog. Several residents reported seeing the plane before it went down. Searchers recovered the body of Gwendolyne Owen on September 4, 1989 from the shores of Goulais Bay. The bodies of Michael Gadke and Morris Werenko have not yet been recovered. The Cessna is described as having white wings with red tips. The fuselage is described as being red in colour with a white stripe and a white underside. The engine cowling was red. Despite several searches, no wreckage was located. |
