| Additional Information : | On October 22, 1959 Meryl and George Weeden boarded a westbound train heading to Amyot where his family operated a lodge. The lodge was located at Mile 107 of the CPR line, west of Chapleau. The men intended to go on a hunting trip. The men were seen by crew on the train and two Aboriginal trappers on October 23. They were last seen between Mile markers 106 and 107, southeast of White River and west of Chapleau. When Meryl and George failed to return to work on October 27th, they were reported missing to police. A large-scale search was conducted at the time of the disappearance and again in the following spring (1960). Neither man has been located to date. |
