Additional Information : | On the day of her disappearance, Janice left her parents’ home in Fort Garry, Manitoba. She was driving her father’s blue coloured 1985 Oldsmobile Cierra. Whether Janice had plans to meet someone is unknown. The following morning, Mr. Howe’s car was located by the side of the road. The vehicle was approximately 31 km (19 miles) east of Kenora, Ontario. A forensic examination did not show evidence that Janice was assaulted in the car. The only items that were missing were the rear floor mats and a 122 cm by 244 cm (4′ by 8′) tarp that had been in the trunk. Having just filled up the car with gas, Mr. Howe had recorded the mileage on the odometer. As a result, police were able to determine that the car had been driven 550 km (343 miles). Since Kenora is about 200 kms (125 miles) from Winnipeg, the car had been driven an extra 300 kms (186 miles) before being abandoned. |
