At the time of his disappearance, Victor was retired and spent time travelling in his cabin cruiser. He is described as an avid boater.

Victor was last seen piloting his 42 foot cabin cruiser in Outer Bronte Harbour on Lake Ontario.

A commercial shipping vessel notified police that a boat was in distress in the Fifty Point Conservation area. Victor’s boat was found partially submerged. Divers rescued Victor’s pet cat but could not find Victor.
