Additional Information : | Just prior to his disappearance, Charles was fishing with a friend on Gull Rock Lake. While fishing, the increasing winds caused the boat to be hit with a number of large waves. Eventually, the boat was capsized. Both Charles and his companion held onto the overturned boat as the large waves continued to slap against the boat. Several times, the men lost contact with the boat, but were always able to grab hold again. At one point, Lewis was washed away from the boat. He began gasping for air and swallowing water. As he attempted to swim back to the boat, his head bobbed in and out of the water. Eventually he did not surface and was unable to reach the boat. Gull Rock Lake is located approximately 10 km from Red Lake. |
