On the morning August 2nd, 1970, Mary Anne left Beckwith Island with a friend named Robert Lehto. The pair set off by canoe with the intention of traveling to Cedar Point in Tiny Township. A storm broke out later in the day and did not pass until August 4th, 1970. Neither Mary Anne nor Robert have been since setting out in the canoe. It is believed that the canoe capsized in the storm, resulting in the death of both passengers. |
