Additional Information : | On the day of his disappearance, Brian and a co-worker, Russell Thomas, were commercial fishing at their fish camp on MacDowell Lake near MacDowell Lake First Nation Territory. Each of the men left in separate boats. Brian left to pull fish nets on the east side of the lake, while Russell went to pull fish nets on the west side of the lake. After pulling his four nets, Russell went to join Brian on the east side of the lake. Russell pulled two nets and realized that Brian was not on the lake. Russell was returning to the camp and found Brian’s boat washed up on shore approximately three or four hundred yards from camp. The motor was in the forward gear with the throttle in the off position and one of the paddles were missing from the boat. Despite an extensive search and dragging of the lake, Brian remains missing. MacDowell Lake is described as being 90 ‘air miles’ north of Red Lake and only accessible by air. |
