On September 7, 1991, Norman and his friend, Grant Ayerst flew from Vancouver, British Columbia to Toronto, Ontario. The two men checked into the Bond Place Hotel in downtown Toronto and stayed until September 11, 1991.

Norman and Grant then traveled to the Barrie area. Although they had return tickets booked for September 13, 1991, they were not on the flight. Neither Norman nor Grant have been seen since.

Based on the subsequent police investigation, it is believed that both men were victims of foul play. To this date, neither man, nor their remains, have been located.
